Find your tone

Run a slow, repeating frequency sweep to hear where your ringing sits, mark the moments that sound like it, fine-tune the match to the exact pitch, then play CR tones or background sounds.

Start quiet. Use headphones, keep the volume low, and stop right away if a sound is uncomfortable or makes your tinnitus louder. This is a self-help tool, not a hearing test or medical device.

"Even by pitch" spends equal time on every octave, the way your ear hears it. Marks subtract about a quarter second for reaction time.

Finding your pitch

  1. Put on headphones and set the volume low. Pick the ear your tinnitus is in, or Both.
  2. Start a slow sweep (30 s or longer) on repeat. Press Mark or the M key whenever the tone sounds like your ringing.
  3. After a few passes, your marks will cluster. Narrow the range around them and sweep again.
  4. Press Fine-tune on a mark. In Match, nudge by 1% until it's as close as you can get.
  5. Do the octave check with ½× and 2×, set the volume to match the loudness, then save.
  6. Repeat on another day. Tinnitus pitch can drift, and several saved matches give a truer picture to share with an audiologist.

Built-in laptop and phone speakers often can't play below about 200 Hz or above about 14 kHz, so a match near the edges is more reliable through headphones. Your settings, marks and saved matches stay in this browser only.
